KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari says accountability of the ‘Sharifs’ [prime minister and his family] is unlikely unless the bill on Panama Papers sails through the Parliament, ARY News reported.

In his tweet, Bilawal urged everyone to join his cause on demanding government to accept his four demands.

According to the statement of objects, “This bill seeks to provide a legal process for inquiries into the trans-national and trans-jurisdictional secreted transfers and deposits of vast sums of Pakistani rupees and resources by persons whose names have been disclosed in the leaks of the Panama Papers and by their family members.

Since funds have been secretly transmitted to, and parked or utilized in foreign countries behind corporate veils, and since the disclosures have been made by a reputable international body of investigative journalists, the category of persons named in the Panama leaks is distinct and stands apart.

For this purpose this new special law is designed to facilitate the State, through specific provisions providing for effective trans-national and trans-jurisdictional tracing and outreach, to uncover all those secreted funds, assets and properties.”

Meanwhile, the PPP co-chairperson will be shifting to Lahore where he will stay till the 2018 general elections.

Bilawal  had threatened to launch a movement against the federal government if his four demands were not met.

Bilawal’s four demands are:

To implement the resolution regarding China-Pakistan Economic Corridor

To re-constitute a parliamentary committee on national security

To pass Panama Bill drafted by Pakistan People’s Party

To immediately appoint the foreign minister

According to details, Bilawal will be moving to Lahore for reorganizing the party till the next elections.

During his course of stay in the province, Bilawal will pay a visit to every division in the province. In the second phase of the visit, the PPP chief will target the remaining districts of Punjab.

He has called for a Open Workers Convention in Bilawal House Lahore on 30th November on account of his party’s foundation day in Lahore.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will also listen to the grievances and complaints of his party workers on the foundation day as well.

The PPP chairman will start contacting leaders from other opposition parties before 27th December in order to have them on board for the party’s protest.
