NEW DELHI: Veteran Bollywood actor-comedian Govardhan Thakurdas Jethanand Asrani, popularly known as Asrani, has joined the #MeToo debate with his rather frosty observation.

The actor who had a sprawling five-decade-long career in the Indian film industry has time and again proved his mettle in the comedy genre. Asrani who is known for films like Sholay, Dhamaal, Yamla Pagla Deewana: Phir Se, Malamaal Weekly, Bhagam Bhag and many others recently expressed his thoughts on the ongoing MeToo movement.

In his recent interview, the actor-comedian spoke against the MeToo movement which is currently taking Bollywood by the storm and is exposing many dark and hidden secrets of the film industry and many associated with it. Asrani was quoted as saying by the ANI that “I support women, everyone should, but all this is mostly for publicity, part of film promotions and nothing else. Mere accusations mean nothing, don’t take this seriously”.

The #MeToo movement isn’t going to die down any time soon after Bollywood actors like Alok Nath, Nana Patekar, Hrithik Roshan have been allegedly accused of sexual harassment, new names are coming up with every passing day. And recently it was Amitabh Bachchan who was under suspicion of something appalling under wraps.

Bachchan has also been accused of sexual misconduct. Although none of the women has come out as a survivor, the internet is crammed with comments saying that stories involving the megastar have been heard by people.

Celebrity hairstylist Sapna Bhavnani couple of days ago took to Twitter to attack Amitabh Bachchan.

Replying to a Twitter user sharing Bachchan’s post on the ‘Me Too’ movement, she wrote, “This has to be the biggest lie ever. Sir, the film Pink has released and gone and your image of being an activist will soon too. Your truth will come out very soon. Hope you are biting your hands cuz nails will not be enough. @SrBachchan #Metoo #MeTooIndia #comeoutwomen.”
