Talk about carelessness and that too, from Indian celebrities! Bollywood superstars Juhi Chawla, Anil Kapoor and Jitendra received notices from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for not clearing breeding spots for mosquitoes inside their private residences.

Juhi Chawla, who resides in Malabar Hills, Jitendra, who resides in Juhu like Anil Kapoor, were all sent notices under Section 381 B of Mumbai Municipal Corporation (MMC) Act, 1888. These notices were issued to these Bollywood celebrities as breeding sites for mosquitoes were found in their homes.

BMC officials found a breeding site for mosquitoes in a tarpaulin sheet in Anil Kapoor’s house, whereas they found one also in a fountain at the garden of Jitendra’s house. Reportedly, an ornamental pot was identified as the breeding spot for mosquitoes in Juhi Chawla’s apartment as well.

Mumbai is undergoing a dengue crisis, with the city witnessing a sharp increase in the number of people who are seeking symptomatic treatment for dengue or dengue-like infections in hospitals. The total number of people can be put at 2,496 since the first of September. BMC has the authority to impose fines amounting between Rs 2,000 to Rs 8,000 on those found in violation of the MMC act.

Maximum breeding spots are in petri dishes, refrigerator trays, fengshui plants, and money plants inside flats.
