Bollywood stars appreciate Twinkle Khanna

Akshay Kumar’s wife vented her frustration and anger at the politicians for their lack of will and commitment towards reforming the society as a whole. She also expressed her anger at the lawlessness prevalent in India and how the nation is swift to act against humor, and not violation of basic human rigjhts.

An excerpt from the former actress’s article read, “Shouldn’t we save our strength to protest against things that really matter — like gangs of men still killing and raping women as they did again in Rohtak; that we spend $38.35 billion on warfare but are slashing our health care budget by 20% despite being a country whose public spending on health is already among the lowest in the world; that a bunch of us have been called ‘haramzade’ on a political platform from a member of the party that governs us and not from a standup comedian but no FIR is filed against the politician but is filed against the AIB comedians instead.”

The article was well received by Bollywood stars and earned their nod of respect. Artists such as Arjun Kapoo, Karan Johar and Sonakshi Sinha (all of whom attended the roast) tweeted their admiration for the views expressed by Twinkle. However, the praise also came from cousins Priyanka Chopra and Parineeti Chopra, who had nothing to do with the comedy act.

Twinkle Khanna gave up her acting career and opted for a career in interior designing in 2001. She also married actor Akshay Kumar in 2001 and has two children with him, a girl and a boy. Her last film was  Love Ke Liye Kuchh Bhi Karega which did not do exceptionally well at the box office. As an interior designer, she designed actress Rani Mukherjee’s house in 2006.
