DC Universe has released the first look of ‘Stargirl’ with the upcoming TV series’ lead actress Brec Bassinger in the super hero costume.
The attendees at Friday’s DC Universe panel at WonderCon were given a first look at Bassinger as a costumed Courtney Whitmore.
Stargirl follows High School sophomore Courtney Whitmore who inspires an unlikely group of young heroes to stop the villains of the past.
As fans of the character know, Courtney becomes Stargirl after she inadvertently discovers her stepfather’s old superhero gear. That stepfather, Pat Dugan, then goes on to become her mentor and something of a sidekick as she gets started in the superhero game.
This new DC Universe series reimagines Stargirl and the very first superhero team, the Justice Society of America, in a fun, exciting and unpredictable series premiering this year.
Stargirl TV series focuses on the character that started executive producer Geoff Johns’ career as a comic book writer when he created her in 1999, and was lovingly inspired by his late sister.
According to Variety, Johns will write the premiere episode and serve as the series’ showrunner.
