Talks with IMF underway on regular basis: Umar

ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Asad Umar said that talks are underway with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on a regular basis, ARY News reported on Thursday.

He was speaking to the media after addressing the Business Leaders Conference in the federal capital.

“We are in talks with the IMF and are holding sessions on a regular basis,” the minister contented and added that last week, Pakistani teams had two technical sessions with the fund and having one interaction every week.

Replying to a query, Mr Umar said, the government will again talk with the IMF this week and we are sharing economic data with it and added, “Following the finalisation of terms, an IMF mission will visit Pakistan.”

Earlier, addressing the Business Leaders Conference, the finance minister had said capabilities of professionals can be utilized in a best manner by providing them incentives.

He relayed  that the collaboration of government and private sector is bringing improvement in the performance of every sector.

Mr Umar said grooming of professionals is imperative to improve the quality of governance in the country.

He said the incumbent government was taking every possible steps for welfare of the trader community.

Yesterday, Finance Minister Asad Umar had said that the government was reforming the existing tax structure to facilitate taxpayers.

He was addressing a gathering organised to honour top tax payers of the country in Islamabad.
