LAHORE: Chief minister Punjab’s Spokesperson, Shahbaz Gill on Monday said that a case has been registered against the persons involved in harassing a couple in Murree, on the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar.

In a tweet message, Mr Gill stated that legal action will be ensured against the persons misbehaving with the tourist family and justice will be provided to them.

The incident came to light on Sunday evening after hotel agents reportedly harassed a tourist couple, which led to a scuffle.

According to eyewitnesses, some hotel agents catcalled at a woman tourist near Grand Post Office (GPO) Chowk when she was walking on Murree’s Mall Road with her husband around 6:30 PM. When the husband asked the agents to refrain from the coarse behaviour, the harassers pushed him.

However, although bystanders and traffic police officers present at the scene broke up the scuffle, the in-charge at the bazaar’s local check-post refused to initiate any action when the family complained, citing jurisdiction.

A video of the incident also went viral on social media as well, after which Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar took notice and directed inspector-general (IG) Punjab to submit a report.
