The victims of this unfortunate incident included two children, a woman, and another individual. Their bodies have been shifted to a nearby hospital for further formalities.

The incident occurred in the Nawakali area of Quetta on Abdul Khalid Road.

Earlier, in yet another tragic incident involving heavy traffic in Karachi, a speeding trailer crushed a motorcycle-riding family to death.

The incident took place near Keamari Gate No. 17, killing a husband, wife and their two-year-old child, rescue officials said.

According to authorities, the incident occurred when a speeding 10-wheeler truck struck the motorcycle.

The trailer driver fled the scene with the vehicle immediately after the crash.

The bodies were shifted to hospital for legal formalities, while the damaged motorcycle was moved to a nearby police post. Police and traffic officials have launched a search for the absconding driver.

Earlier on January 11, as many as four people, including a groom, were killed and one person injured in a head-on collision between a car and a truck in Jamrud town of Khyber district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to rescue officials, the accident occurred when the groom was returning with his friends from a salon after wedding preparations. The collision instantly turned wedding celebrations into mourning.

Police and rescue teams rushed to the scene and shifted the bodies and the injured person to a nearby hospital.

The deceased were identified as Nauman, Mansoor, Sohail, and Zarab. Upon receiving news of the groom’s death, scenes of grief were witnessed at the wedding house.

Noor Muhammad, aka Noora, in his late 20s, is convinced his compromised gut health will never let him train. It was compromised for training too much and not compensating it with right food and rest.

The prime minister has recently engaged with the general public through his public gatherings and interviews in a bid to convey that a foreign conspiracy is being hatched against him to topple his government.

Yesterday while speaking during an interview with Arshad Sharif, Prime Minister Imran Khan said that he has credible information that his life is in danger but he is not afraid and will continue his fight for an independent and democratic Pakistan.

The prime minister said that he knows that not only his life is in danger but the opposition, which is playing in foreign hands, will also resort to his character assassination.

“Let me inform my nation that my life is at risk too, they have also planned for my character assassination. Not only myself but my wife too,” said the PM.

The Three Options

Answering a question about what options opposition gave him, PM Imran Khan said that he doesn’t think he should talk to people like Shehbaz Sharif, but yes, the “establishment” gave him three options i.e. no-confidence vote, early elections or resignation as PM.

He maintained that he will let no-confidence vote pass, whether he loses or wins as he wants the nation to see the faces of people who conspired against their own country.

“If we survive (the no-confidence vote), we cannot of course work with these turncoats (who left PTI to join opposition), early elections are the best option, I will urge my nation to give me simple majority so that I won’t have to do compromises,” said the PM.

A westerly weather system entered in western and upper parts of the country on Wednesday(night), which expected to bring rain in upper areas of the country.

The Met Office has forecast hot and humid weather in the city during the next 24 hours, with maximum temperature to range between 34 – 36 ºCelsius, ARY News reported on Sunday.

Minimum temperature has been recorded 25.5 ºCelsius in Karachi with humidity at 60 percent in the morning.

Winds from South/Southwest were blowing in the morning, according to the weather report.

Heavy bouts of rain coupled with stormy winds on Saturday in Sindh’s coastal district of Badin and the adjoining areas rendered many important roads submerged and also damaged agricultural crops.

The coastal areas near Badin and adjacent cities received heavy rains due to which many roads on the downward slope were inundated by the accumulation of water.

The traffic on Karachi to Hyderabad M-9 motorway was also affected due to the rainfall.

The PMD had in its weather outlook earlier predicted gusty winds and localized thunderstorms in April, which may harm standing crops in the wheat growing areas especially in upper Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Fresh swarms of locusts, a specie of grasshoppers, pose serious threat to cotton crop in Cholistan as earlier measures taken to control the infestation failed to bear any fruit.

After fresh arrival of locusts, the personnel of Livestock Department of Punjab and local administration officials reached in the area where locusts were reported to be sighted.

A spray campaign has been underway in the area to eliminate swarms of locusts, official sources said.

In June this year, swarms of locusts attacked cotton fields in Khairpur, Sukkur, and Ghotki. Farmers had to bear losses of hundreds of thousands of rupees due to crop loss in the attack, according to reports. The crops were affected in Khairpur’s Naaro, Chondko, Thari Meerwah, Sukkur’s Saleh Pat, Thikrato, Mubarakpur and Ghotki’s Khanpur Mahar, and Khangarh.

The United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) in first week of September warned that the situation relating to locusts in Pakistan was “most serious” as a second generation of the insect had been bred.

According to the FAO’s Locust Watch report, there remains a risk of further breeding, causing locust numbers to increase, with the possibility of swarm formation from late September onward.

Yemen and India are also facing a similar situation, and the situation could deteriorate in Ethiopia and Eritrea.

During August, adults continued to lay eggs primarily in Cholistan, and to a lesser extent, in Nara and Tharparkar deserts where groups of hoppers had formed near the Indian border, report said.

From mid-August onw­ards, hatching caused locust numbers to increase. Adults were also laying eggs and hoppers were forming groups in the Lasbela area west of Karachi. The update says that during the month of August, nearly 86,000 hectares were treated, out of which 16,455 hectares of land was treated in Pakistan.

Breeding will continue in Cholistan and Tharparkar deserts with another generation of hatching and the formation of hopper groups and perhaps a few small swarms forming by late September.

Balochistan once again became a victim of violence with two heinous attacks in Quetta and Chaman, martyring at least 21 and leaving behind dozens of innocent people injured. Following the gory attack, Pakistani celebrities, politicians, and activists condemned yesterday’s act of distortion of peace.

Prime Minister Imran Khan has not only condemned the attack but has also “asked for an immediate inquiry & increased security for the people.”

This was stated by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Wednesday.

The IBOs were conducted in Chaman, Kohlu, Sibbi and Uch areas of the province under countrywide operation Radd-ul-Fasaad to disarm and eliminate the hidden terrorist sleeper cells, ISPR said in the statement.

A large cache of arms and ammunition including RPG grenades, sub-machine guns and suicide belts were recovered during the raids.

Taliban and other Islamist militants operate in the province, which shares borders with Afghanistan and Iran, besides the separatist militants waging a campaign against the central government for decades for a greater share of the mineral-rich province’s resources.

The province was rocked by a series of attacks late last year that claimed over 180 lives and raised concerns about a growing militant presence, including fighters affiliated with Islamic State, which had claimed several bombings in Balochistan.

Police officials said the policemen suffered fatal bullet wounds in the gun attack and died on the spot, however, DSP Dasti remained unhurt.

DIG Quetta said that the DSP remained safe owing to his bullet proof vehicle while two of his gunmen sitting in the back seat were martyred in the attack.

The assailants managed to flee from the scene after the attack. No militant group has claimed the responsibility of the terrorism incident.

A police official said that DSP Dasti was coming to his office from home when the assailants opened fire on his vehicle.

Following the incident, a large number of the security personnel swarmed the area, cordoning off the crime scene to collect evidence.

A search operation was also launched in the adjoining areas to look for the culprits of the deadly attack.

Balochistan, the southwestern province of Pakistan, has experienced a trail of incidents of violence and targeted killings for over a decade. The province faces a host of security challenges with security personnel in the province often being targeted in roadside explosions, suicide attacks and targeted killings.

According to police and rescue sources, the firing incident occurred in Langoabad area of the provincial capital when unknown armed men sprayed a vehicle of security personnel with bullets, which was on routine patrol in the locality.

As a result, four FC personnel received fatal firearm wounds and were rushed to Civil Hospital Quetta, where doctors pronounced them dead.

Their identities couldn’t be ascertained immediately.

After being informed of the gun attack, a heavy contingent of security forces reached the spot and cordoned it off to collect evidences.

They also launched an operation in the adjoining areas to hunt the culprits.

The IBOs were conducted in Gish Kaur, Buleda, Tratha and Pishin areas, the Pakistan army’s media cell further said.

Other equipment including communication devices, Global Positioning System (GPS) and laptops were also seized.
