The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has urged citizens to keep their national identity cards (CNICs) updated to ensure uninterrupted mobile phone services.

In a message on social media, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) said it is striving to maintain seamless mobile services across the country.

According to the PTA, users should update their national identity cards in a timely manner to ensure the continuity of their mobile services. The authority warned that SIM cards registered on expired identity cards or in someone else’s name may be blocked at any time.

To avoid any inconvenience, citizens have been urged to renew expired national identity cards promptly.

Read more: PTA authorizes cellular mobile operators to start 5G services

The PTA stated that this measure reflects its commitment to protecting consumer interests and ensuring reliable telecommunications services.

Earlier, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority issued a public advisory encouraging mobile users to activate a free service that prevents unintended balance deductions caused by mobile data usage.

In its statement released on March 19, 2026, in Islamabad, PTA warned that users may incur unexpected charges when their data bundles expire or are fully consumed, as mobile internet continues on higher Pay-As-You-Go (PAYG) rates.

To address this, telecom operators offer a “Balance Save” or PAYG blocker service, which automatically stops internet usage once a data bundle is exhausted—helping users protect their remaining balance.

Muse Spark: Meta unveils first AI model from superintelligence team

Meta Platforms on Wednesday unveiled Muse Spark, the first artificial intelligence model from a team it assembled last year through a costly ‌talent war and sweeping internal restructuring to catch up with rivals in the AI race.

U.S. tech giants are under pressure to prove their massive AI outlays will pay off. The stakes are especially high for Meta after it hired Scale AI CEO Alex Wang last year under a $14.3 billion deal and offered some engineers pay packages of hundreds of millions of dollars to staff a new superintelligence team.

Muse Spark is the first in a new series of models from that team, which is pursuing machines that can ‌outthink humans.

It will initially be available only on the lightly-used Meta AI app and website, and in the coming weeks, replace the existing Llama models powering chatbots on WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook and Meta’s collection of smart glasses.

“This initial model is small and fast by design, yet capable enough to reason through complex questions in science, math, and health. It is a powerful foundation, and the next generation is already in development,” the company said in a blog post.

Apple’s AI initiatives are encountering a familiar obstacle as content creators push back, and now the situation is escalating to the courtroom. Three YouTube channels have filed a lawsuit against Apple, alleging that the company secretly collected their videos to train its AI models, as reported by MacRumors.

The channels involved include popular ones like h3h3Productions, as well as golf creators such as MrShortGame Golf and Golfholics. They claim that Apple used their videos without obtaining permission, offering payment, or even providing proper credit.

The lawsuit states that Apple went beyond merely linking to the content. It alleges that the company circumvented YouTube’s protections to directly download and utilize the videos.

The creators argue that this violates the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, which prohibits bypassing systems designed to protect copyrighted material.

The lawsuit alleges that Apple made hefty profits by using creators’ content to build its AI system. It also argues that Apple didn’t give anything back to the people who made the videos.

The lawsuit brings attention to a dataset known as Panda-70M, which was referenced by Apple researchers in a paper on video-generation AI published in 2025. Panda-70M is a comprehensive index of YouTube clips, organized by URLs, timestamps, and identifiers. To utilize these clips, an individual would need to access and extract each one from YouTube.

The complainants voiced that accessing these clips means getting around YouTube’s safeguards, making each clip a different act of scraping. They also claim their own videos appear hundreds of times in the dataset.

The lawsuit is currently seeking damages and potentially an injunction, arising from the confirmation in Apple’s research papers that YouTube videos were utilized in its AI training. However, Apple has not yet provided a detailed explanation of how it managed this data.

The Artemis astronauts hurtling back home after circling the Moon have had regular communication with their team on Earth, but on Tuesday, they got to chat with colleagues floating elsewhere in space.

“We have been waiting for this like you can’t imagine,” said Artemis II mission commander Reid Weisman as his crew began the call with astronauts aboard the International Space Station.

“It’s fun to be up in space with you at the same time!” said Canadian astronaut and Artemis II crewmember Jeremy Hansen.

The call came one day after the Artemis crew had a packed day filled with milestones like breaking the space travel distance record, conducting the first lunar flyby in more than 50 years, and delivering more than six hours of vivid observations of the Moon’s surface.

Unsurprisingly, the ISS team had questions.

“We know how fortunate all of us are as humans to come up here and look down at the Earth from above,” said ISS Crew-12 commander Jessica Meir. “Every astronaut that comes to space remarks on that.”

“And we really wanted to hear what that felt like, how different that felt now from your new perspective around the Moon?”

Artemis astronaut Christina Koch — she and Meir were the first women to participate in an all-female spacewalk — said viewing Earth from near the Moon, which is roughly 1,000 times farther away than the ISS, was particularly striking given all the “blackness.”

“It truly emphasized how alike we are, how the same thing keeps every single person on planet Earth alive.”

And they commiserated about life in space, and how ISS missions — all three of the American Artemis astronauts had previously served on the ISS — had prepared them for their historic lunar voyage.

“Basically every single thing that we learned on ISS is up here,” said Koch.

“And then, of course, there’s the funny and practical, how to eat, how to do silly things with water, how to flip around. We’re bringing that with us too.”

And Wiseman relayed an amusing anecdote about Canadian Hansen, whose trip around the Moon was also his first time in space.

As they prepared to fire their engines to blast off towards the Moon and out of Earth’s orbit, there was a moment when the view of Earth grew rapidly in the window, Wiseman explained.

“Jeremy turns around to us and goes, ‘I’m not sure. I think we’re going to run right into it!,'” he continued.

“We were all dyin’ laughin’.”

Following their lunar flyby, the Artemis II astronauts are on their long journey back home and expected to splash back down on Earth late Friday.

Google is introducing new features to simplify how users contribute local knowledge to Maps, it announced on Tuesday. Notably, Gemini can now generate captions when users want to share a photo or video of a place.

After selecting photos, Gemini analyzes them to create captions, which users can then edit or delete. This tool aims to help users quickly generate captions when sharing content. Caption suggestions are currently available in English on iOS in the U.S. and will soon expand globally and to Android devices, Google states.

Additionally, it’s now easier to find suitable images for sharing with the community. If users enable media access for Google Maps in their phone’s settings, they will see photos and videos from recent experiences directly in the “Contribute” tab, where they can tap and post.

“Photos and videos you post help others understand a place better, like its overall vibe or the latest menu,” Google explained in a blog post. “We’re now making it easier to find the right image for sharing.”

Photo and video recommendations are now available worldwide on both iOS and Android.

Moreover, Google is making it easy for users to track the impact of their contributions, as they will now see total points earned displayed in the “Contribute” tab.

Profile pages will now feature the user’s “Local Guide” level. This is based on points earned through contributions to Google Maps, such as adding photos, writing reviews, answering questions, and fact-checking.

The company has updated its achievement badges to make it clearer whether someone is an “expert fact-finder,” “master photographer,” or “rising novice.” Additionally, Google is introducing new gold-colored profiles to help identify high-level contributors more easily.

Google has stated that these new features are intended to support its community of over 500 million contributors who share photos, reviews, and videos. This helps others decide what to do and where to go. Since Maps relies heavily on contributors to keep information current and updated, it makes sense for the company to streamline the process for these contributions.

Apple’s first foldable iPhone is expected to launch in September alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, according to a new report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.

The news comes after a Tuesday report from Nikkei Asia raised concerns that the foldable iPhone could be delayed due to engineering challenges during testing.

Gurman reports that although the device’s complexity may limit initial supply, Apple plans to launch the phone around the same time as, or shortly after, its non-foldable models. Since the release is still six months away, the timing remains uncertain, the report states.

Launching a foldable iPhone will be a significant move for Apple, allowing the company to better compete with foldable models from Samsung and Chinese smartphone makers, which have long offered foldable phones.

Apple’s device reportedly has several advantages over existing foldable phones, as the tech giant has addressed screen quality and durability issues, making the crease less visible when the device is unfolded.

Pakistan’s CERT has issued a public advisory following a surge in hacking incidents and online fraud targeting WhatsApp accounts.

In its latest warning, the national cyber response body urged users to adopt immediate precautionary measures to protect themselves from digital threats.

The advisory highlights a growing trend of cybercriminals exploiting unsuspecting WhatsApp users through account takeovers and financial scams.

According to the guidance, users should never share their One-Time Passwords (OTPs) or PIN codes with anyone, regardless of how trustworthy they may appear.

It also stressed the importance of avoiding suspicious links received from unknown numbers, which are often used as entry points for WhatsApp hackers.

Additionally, users have been advised to verify any requests for money through a direct phone call before taking action, as fraudsters frequently impersonate known contacts to solicit funds.

WhatsApp new feature shows address book photos for hidden profile pictures

The agency strongly recommended enabling the two-step verification feature on WhatsApp, describing it as a critical “digital shield” that adds an extra layer of security. This feature helps protect user accounts even if login credentials or OTPs are compromised.

The advisory comes amid increasing concerns over cyber fraud in the country, with authorities urging the public to remain vigilant and adopt safer digital practices to prevent financial and personal data loss.

Anthropic on Tuesday announced an initiative with major technology companies, including Amazon.com, Microsoft and Apple, that lets partners preview an advanced cybersecurity model developed by the AI startup.

Under its “Project ‌Glasswing”, select organizations will be allowed to use the startup’s unreleased and general-purpose AI model, “Claude Mythos Preview”, for defensive cybersecurity work, Anthropic said. Other partners include CrowdStrike, Palo Alto Networks, Google and Nvidia.

The announcement follows a Fortune report last month that Anthropic was testing Claude Mythos, which it said posed security risks and also offered advanced capabilities, dragging shares of cybersecurity firms such as Palo Alto Networks and CrowdStrike sharply lower.

This year’s RSA cybersecurity conference in San Francisco was also dominated by talk about the rise of AI-powered cyberattacks and whether conventional security tools sufficed.

In a blog post on Tuesday, Anthropic said Mythos Preview had found “thousands” of major vulnerabilities in operating systems, web browsers and other software.

The startup said launch partners will use Mythos Preview in their defensive security work, and Anthropic ‌will share findings with industry.

Anthropic said it is also extending access to about 40 additional organizations responsible for critical software infrastructure, and made a commitment of up to $100 million in usage credits and $4 million in donations to open-source security groups.

The AI startup added that its eventual goal is for “our users to safely deploy Mythos-class models at scale.”

The startup said it has also been in ongoing discussions with the U.S. government about the model’s capabilities.

Last year, Anthropic said that hackers exploited vulnerabilities in its Claude AI to attack around 30 global organizations. Moreover, 67% of the 1,000 executives surveyed in an IBM and Palo Alto Networks study said they had been targeted by AI attacks within the past year.

Russia has pushed back the launch of three moon missions, the Interfax news agency said on Tuesday, a setback to its ambitious ‌lunar exploration programme as longtime space rival, the United States, celebrated an historic flight around the moon.

The launches of Russian spacecraft Luna-28, Luna-29, and Luna-30 have been postponed to 2032–2036, Interfax quoted Russian Academy of Sciences Vice President Sergei Chernyshev as saying.

It did not say when they had originally been slated to lift off, but the unexplained delays follow postponements last year to other Russian lunar and space missions and the crash of its unmanned Luna-25 craft into the surface of the moon in 2023.

Russia sees lunar exploration as vital to its national ‌interests, the head of Russia’s space agency Roskosmos said after the failed 2023 mission, saying the race was on to develop the moon’s natural resources.

The Soviet Union launched the world’s first satellite and sent the first human into space in the 1960s, but Russia’s once mighty space programme has declined in the post-Soviet era, falling behind the U.S. and, increasingly, China.

This week, four astronauts from NASA’s Artemis II mission were the first to fly around the moon in over 50 years, travelling further into space than any humans before them.

Apple has been encountering setbacks in the engineering test phase of ‌its first foldable iPhone, which could lead to delays in its mass production and product shipment schedule, Nikkei Asia reported on Monday, citing sources.

Here are some details:

Engineering development issues could delay the first shipments of the foldable iPhones by months in a worst-case scenario, according to the Nikkei report.

“It’s true that more issues than expected have emerged during the early test production phase, and additional time will be needed to resolve them and ‌make necessary adjustments,” the report said, quoting one source familiar with the matter.

Reuters could not verify the report. Apple did not immediately respond to Reuters’ request for a comment outside regular business hours in the United States.

Nikkei had reported in January that Apple would focus on delivering its first foldable iPhone and two non-folding models with upgraded cameras and larger displays for a flagship launch in the second half of 2026.
