NAUSHAHRO FEROZE: A festive environment at a wedding ceremony turned into mourning in the Naushahro Feroze district of the Sindh province after celebratory gunfire left two people, a child among them, dead, ARY News reported.
Police sources said that two of the groom’s relatives sustained bullet wounds as a result of aerial firing at the wedding. Before the injured could be taken to any hospital for treatment, they succumbed to their injuries.
Both the deceased have been identified as Ramazan and Muhammad Sharif.
Police reached the scene immediately after the incident and transferred the dead bodies to a hospital for medico-legal formalities. The bodies will be handed over to their family after completion of the legal process, said the police.
The police said two suspects have fled the scene of the incident and efforts were underway to nab them.
Celebratory gunfire has become a tradition at festive occasions where people resort to firing gunshots despite knowing the disastrous repercussions of the firing.
