Pakistan cricket team’s disastrous loss in their World Cup opener against West Indies on Friday invited criticism by fans and even celebrities who took to Twitter to share their disappointment.
Film and television actor, Adnan Malik, asked what exactly went wrong with the team and how will they pick up from here after a demoralising defeat. He even went onto question if Pakistan would have been a more consistent team if they had not won the 1992 World Cup miraculously.
Had we not (miraculously) won in 92, would we have become a more consistent team? In many ways that victory defined Pakistani nationalism & entrenched a belief that we are mercurial and ‘god blessed’. I often wonder if we would have been better off in the long run without it? 🤔 pic.twitter.com/bgeGtavLdK

Entertainer Fakhr-e-Alam shared a poll on Twitter inquiring the reason for Pakistan’s poor batting in particular; “Short pitch bowling, mental block, World Cup pressure, Roza lag raha thaa?”
What factor do you think is behind Pakistan’s poor batting today?

However, there were a few like actors Shaan Shahid and Faysal Qureshi who rallied behind the team despite last night’s loss. Shaan reiterated that the nation stands by its heroes no matter what hence when they fall, we must pick them up.
A nation stands by its hero’s no matter what ..when they rise they pick the whole nation.. when they fall we must pick them up.. play your game without pressure.. as it is an arena where boys become men .. #ourboysingreen 🇵🇰
