Cell phones to go silent in Sindh, Punjab cities on 10th Muharram

In Punjab, the mobile networks will be suspended from 8am to 8pm.

The decision in this regard was taken during a meeting chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Wednesday.

Pillion riding ban has already been imposed in the province as part of a security measure during Ashura procession.

Meanwhile, Sindh government has decided that mobile phone services will go silent on Saturday from 9am to 10pm in eight districts of the province including Karachi.

The provincial government had requested the government to suspend mobile networks for three days – 8th, 9th and 10th Muharram. But the request was not granted by the federal government.
