CEO ARY Network Salman Iqbal named among 500 influential Muslims

ISLAMABAD: Mr Salman Iqbal, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of ARY Digital Network – one of Pakistan’s largest media network – does not only enjoy a huge respect back home but also beyond Pakistan as the latest report has named him among the top 500 most influential Muslims in the world.

The Muslim 500 is a yearly publication, first published in 2009, which ranks the most influential Muslims internationally.

The publication is compiled by the Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre in Amman, Jordan.

In recognition of the extraordinary achievements of Mr Iqbal, he has been placed among the most notable Muslim figures of the world.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif and Malala Yousafzai are among the other ‘World’s 500 Most Influential Muslims’ 2017 who have grabbed a place in the recently published report.

The independent research list celebrates prominent Muslim personalities and headline-makers for their contributions in almost 13 different categories. Few of the main categories include politics, arts and culture, media, science and technology, philanthropy, administration of religious affairs, preachers and spiritual guides and social issues.

Meanwhile, Bilquis Edhi, the wife of the late humanitarian Abdul Sattar Edhi, has also been recognised for her life-long charity work in the list.

The list names 33 Pakistanis including Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) Chief Sirajul Haq, a famous lawyer and human rights activist Asma Jahangir, Maulana Tariq Jameel and Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan.

Among the top 50 Muslims on the list are Professor Dr Sheikh Ahmad Muhammad Al-Tayyeb at number one, King Salman Bin Abdul-Aziz Al-Saud of Saudi Arabia at number three, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani at number 28, Queen Rania Al-Abdullah of Jordan at number 32 and His Royal Highness Shah Karim Al-Hussayni at number 37.
