Change of Guards ceremony held at Allama Iqbal’s mausoleum

LAHORE: A Change of guards’ ceremony held at the mausoleum of Allama Iqbal in Lahore on 146th birth anniversary of the great poet and thinker, ARY News reported on Thursday.

A smartly turned out contingent of Pakistan Navy took charge of the guards’ duties.

Station Commander of Pakistan Navy, Commodore Sajid Hussain, who was the chief guest of the ceremony, laid floral wreath at the Mazar and offered Fateha.

The chief guest inspected the contingents of Pakistan Rangers and Pakistan Navy’s contingents.

Allama Iqbal was born on 9th November 1877 in Sialkot.

He passed his M.A in philosophy from Government College Lahore after which for higher education he went to London and did his law from Lincoln’s Inn.

He did his PhD in philosophy from Germany’s Ludwig Maximilian University, Munich.

Among his 12,000 verses of poetry, about 7,000 verses are in Persian.
