Police on Thursday issued arrest warrants for 21-year-old Piazon — full name Lucas Domingues Piazon — and Andrey Da Silva Ventura, who are accused of assaulting a woman after meeting her at a Toronto nightclub.
In a statement, Premier League champions Chelsea said: “We are aware of the reports.” It made no further comment.
Piazon, currently on loan at English second-tier side Reading, and Andrey, who plays for Brazilian side Botafogo, are alleged to have met the 21-year-old victim and another woman on a night out on July 25.
The footballers accompanied them to the home of one of the women, where the assault is alleged to have taken place.
“The victim, once she arrived at home, went to sleep. The men then entered the bedroom and sexually assaulted her,” Toronto police Inspector Joanna Beaven-Desjardins told a press conference.
Two days later, the two men flew back to Brazil.
Piazon joined Chelsea in August 2011 and is under contract until 2017, but has spent most of this time at the club out on loan at Malaga, Vitesse Arnhem, Eintracht Frankfurt and Reading.
Toronto police previously has issued a warrant for the arrest of a Brazilian water polo player over the alleged sexual assault of a 22-year-old Toronto woman in her home on the morning of July 16, also on the sidelines of the Pan Am Games.
The accused in that case, Thye Mattos Ventura Bezerra, left Canada afterward and travelled to Russia with his team to compete in the World Aquatics Championships.
