Children death toll in Thar rises to 17

Innocent children of Thar paying the price of the negligence of government authorities with their lives in the desert region of Sindh. Malnutrition, lack of healthcare facilities and scarcity of water are some factors pushing the children towards death.

A child died today in Mithi’s civil hospital rising the death toll of children to 17 in last 11 days. Moreover, three children have been transferred to Hyderabad in a precarious condition.

Chairman Pakistan People’s Party Bilawal Bhutto has constituted a committee comprises of information adviser Moula Bux Chandio and food minister Nasir Shah to look into the situation in Thar.

The two-members team is expected to visit the region today and submit a report to the PPP chairman.
According to media reports hospitals in Thar are facing a shortage of doctors, while around 215 dispensaries remain non-functional in the remote villages of Thar region.
