China to provide Pakistani students with postgraduate scholarships

ISLAMABAD: The Chinese government will offer scholarships to Pakistani students in the subject of cultural studies at master’s level every year.

Chinese Cultural Counsellor You Yi revealed on Wednesday during a meeting with federal secretary of National History and Literary Heritage (NHLH) division Engineer Aamir Hasan.

Speaking on the occasion, Chinese Cultural Counsellor You Yi said that the Chinese government has approved the scholarships to Pakistani students and will bear all educational expenses.

The scholarships will be provided to Pakistani students from the next year, he informed.

Mr. You Yi said cultural bonds between China and Pakistan are strengthening with the passage of time which is living example of everlasting friendship between the two countries.

Both the federal secretary and Chinese cultural counsellor agreed on establishing `Chinese Corner’ at National Library of Pakistan (NLP) for which the arrangements would be made soon.

They also agreed on arranging exhibition of Pakistani antiquities in China and signing agreements for cooperation in museum sector in near future.

It was decided that Pakistan and China will join hands for promotion of cultural activities and explore more avenues of cooperation in different fields of fine arts.

Speaking on the occasion federal secretary Aamir Hassan said Pakistan and China have emerged as `Iron brothers’ due to their exemplary friendship.

He assured that the division will facilitate all efforts to promote cultural and literary relations between Pakistan and China which would bring both nations closer.

He emphasised on efforts to translate Chinese and Pakistani literature in each other’s language and said exchange of literary delegations will foster people to people contact.
