ISLAMABAD: Acknowledging the sacrifices rendered by Pakistan in the ongoing fight against terrorism and extremism, Assistant Foreign Minister of China, Kong Xuanyou assured China’s full support to Pakistan against these menaces.
The Chinese official reiterated Beijing’s continued support for Pakistan’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.
Speaking to Sartaj Aziz, Adviser to Prime Minister of Foreign Affairs on Monday, both sides expressed satisfaction at the expansion and deepening of bilateral relations between Pakistan and China.
During their meeting, an entire spectrum of bilateral ties, including China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and regional and global issues of mutual concern came under discussion.
Xuanyou also thanked Pakistan for its consistent and strong support on issues of vital interests to China.
The two sides agreed to remain engaged by further strengthening cooperation in major areas for the mutual benefit of the two countries.
Aziz later briefed the Assistant Foreign Minister on the latest situation in Afghanistan and underscored the importance of a peaceful Afghanistan through reconciliation and dialogue.
The two sides agreed that the international community should remain constructively engaged with Afghanistan especially through the Quadrilateral Consultative Group (QCG) in support of an Afghan-led and Afghan-owned political reconciliation.
The foreign secretary also informed the Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister of the grave humanitarian situation in Indian-held Kashmir by the Indian forces.
He expressed hope that the world would play its role in persuading India to put an end to blatant human rights violations in the valley.
