China’s top envoy supports Pakistan’s efforts for Middle East peace

BEIJING: Wang Yi, China’s Foreign Minister, expressed his country’s appreciation and support for Pakistan’s active diplomatic role in promoting peace and ending conflict in West Asia.
The remarks came during a meeting with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, who paid an official visit to Beijing from March 31 to April 1, 2026, at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pakistan, the meeting was held in a warm and cordial atmosphere. Both leaders discussed bilateral relations and exchanged views on evolving regional developments in West Asia.
Deputy Prime Minister Dar briefed Foreign Minister Wang Yi in detail on the efforts Pakistan continued to make towards the cessation of conflict and the resumption of dialogue, including the recent meeting in Islamabad among foreign ministers of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Egypt.
Both sides reviewed the regional security environment and expressed deep concern over its serious socio-economic repercussions on developing countries.
In this context, both sides launched a five-point initiative for restoring peace and stability in the Gulf and the Middle East.
Both ministers reviewed with satisfaction the growing momentum in bilateral relations, while underscoring the pursuit of high-quality development and strategic cooperation under CPEC 2.0, and enhancing high-level exchanges and communication during the year marking the commemoration of 75th anniversary of bilateral relations.
Deputy Prime Minister Dar expressed his sincere gratitude to Foreign Minister Wang Yi for the warm welcome and exceptional hospitality extended to him and his delegation.
They also exchanged views on Afghanistan and the importance of peace, stability, and the critical importance of countering terrorism effectively, besides reaffirming to remain in regular contact.
