KP chief minister orders fool-proof security during Muharram

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mehmood Khan has directed for taking effective measures to maintain peaceful atmosphere and harmony during the month of Muharam-ul-Haram.

Talking to Inspector-General Police KP Salahuddin Khan Mehsud and Chief Secretary Naveed Kamran Baloch, the chief minister directed law enforcement agencies to be more vigilant during Muharram.

He also directed for close liaison between the administration and law enforcing agencies. He said that police should keep a close eye on insurgents and other suspects with criminal intentions. He also called for improved efforts to ensure that security is maintained.

It may be mentioned that the KP government has closed public in schools from Muharram 6-10. Deputy Commissioner Peshawar Dr Imran has said that all educational institutions on the route of religious processions will be closed.

Meanwhile, in a separate meeting with provincial ministers Shahram Khan Tarakai and Muhammad Atif Khan, the chief minister said that providing relief to the poor people is among the priorities of the government.

Earlier CM KP performed the groundbreaking ceremony of a tunnel of Swat Motorway near Zulam Kot in Chakdara.

Speaking on the occasion, he said a new era of progress and prosperity will usher in Malakand division after completion of Swat Motorway.

Mahmood Khan said fifty kilometres of the motorway has been completed while the remaining 30km will be completed and opened for traffic by December this year.

The Swat Motorway is being completed at a cost of thirty-four billion rupees.
