CM Punjab gives Rs1mn for boy whose hand chopped off in Sheikhupura

SHEIKHUPURA: Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif on Thursday visited the house of 13-year-old Irfan – whose hand was allegedly cut off by a landlady – and presented a Rs1 million cheque and free education facilities to siblings of the boy and consoled with the victim’s family, ARY News reported.
Expressing resentment, Sharif queried police about the delay in investigation and filing a complaint against the landlady after learning that the mother of the victim covered 10 kilometres distance to lodge an FIR which could not be registered until Supreme Court of Pakistan took suo motu notice after 10 days.
The chief minister vowed that the culprit behind incident would be brought to justice and he will personally oversee the entire investigation.
He said that an inquiry committee has been formed to investigate the ‘unfortunate incident’ including chairman of the chief minister’s inspection team and RPO Sargodha as members.
The ill-fated incident took place in a remote village of Wahiwalla in Safdarabad area of district Sheikhupura. The employer of 13-year-old domestic servant Irfan s/o Falaksher allegedly cut off his hand with a fodder machine 10 days ago.
According to media reports, the boy refused to feed cattle which enraged the landlady Shafqat Bibi. She has reportedly been granted pre-arrest bail.
It is pertinent to mention here that chief justice of Pakistan Mr. Justice Mian Saqib Nisar had taken notice of chopping off the hand of the domestic servant in Wahiwalla village of Sheikhupura yesterday.
The notice was taken after media reported the incident. Taking notice of the matter, Chief Justice of Pakistan had summoned a report from Punjab police chief within 48 hours.
