CM Sindh calls for improved public transportation in Karachi

KARACHI: Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah chaired a meeting on Wednesday to review ongoing public transport schemes including Blue Line and inter-city bus service, ARY News reported.

The deteriorating situation of traffic and public transportation concerned the chief minister. He urged provincial transport department to ameliorate traffic and public transport conditions.

Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, provincial minister for transport, while briefing the chief minister said that 8000 buses were required in the city while recommendations of 600 buses has already been approved for inter-city transport plan.

The transport minister said that Karachi Blue Line project would be constructed from Sohrab Goth to Guru Mandar area with nine stations through which 300,000 passengers could travel daily.

The chief minister assured financial support for inter-city bus transporters.

Moreover, the chief minister said that ongoing construction of underpasses, roads and flyovers has been expedited which would be followed by various bus projects.
