COAS calls on President Alvi, discusses national security

ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa called on President Dr Arif Alvi here at President House on Tuesday  and discussed issues pertaining to national security, ARY News reported.

Matters of mutual interest, current situation, national security and other issues came under discussion in the meeting, said President House’s spokesperson.

President Dr Arif Alvi appreciated the unmatched sacrifices rendered by Pakistan army, he added.

Earlier in the day, the COAS met with Prime Minister Imran Khan and discussed overall situation of the country.

According to the details, PM Imran briefed the COAS about his China visit during the meeting. The two leaders also discussed the situation which arose after the SC verdict in Asia Bibi case and reviewed measures being taken against the protesters who vandalized the public properties.

Prime Minister Imran Khan, on October 31, had said that Pakistan can only progress by following the golden principles of Islam.

Addressing the nation through a video message, the PM had said that Pakistan is the only country created in the name of Islam after the state of Madina Munawwara and could only move forward by following Islamic principles.

“Pakistan has no future other than becoming an Islamic Welfare State,” said Imran Khan.

About the Supreme Court decision in the case of Asia Bibi, the PM had said that the SC decision was in line with the Constitution of Pakistan and the constitution is in line with Islamic principles.

“This (PTI) government had done against blasphemy which no other government could do, when a Dutch MP announced to exhibit blasphemous caricatures, we raised our voice on all forums and then the Dutch MP had to withdraw his announcement,” said Imran Khan.
