‘Hardcore terrorists’ involved in Sabeen murder, Safoora carnage sentenced to death

This was said by an Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement on Thursday.

According to ISPR, the five convicts, Tahir Hussain Minhas s/o Khadim Hussain Minhas, Saad Aziz s/o Abdul Aziz Sheikh, Asad ur Rehman s/o Atique ur Rehman, Hafiz Nasir s/o Afzal Ahmed and Muhammad Azhar Ishrat S/O Ishrat Rasheed Ahmed, were tried in a military court. They were active members of Al-Qaeda.

They confessed to committing the high-profile crimes, before trial court, of shooting dead Sabeen Mahmud, Safoora Chowrangi carnage, bomb blast near Saleh mosque and attacking law enforcement agencies.

One of the terrorists, Saad Aziz was a BBA graduate from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Karachi.

Director T2F Sabeen Mahmud was shot dead in Defence Phase-II area on April 25, 2015.

Around 45 people belonging to the Ismaili community were killed inside a bus near Safoora Chowrangi in Sacchal area of Karachi on May 13, 2015.

While, at least two people were killed and seven others wounded when an improvised explosive device bomb planted on a motorcycle exploded outside Saleh Masjid, a Bohra community mosque, in Aram Bagh area on March 20, 2015.

Tahir Minhas was tried on nine charges, Saad Aziz was tried on 10 charges, Asad ur Rehman was tried on four charges and Nasir and Azhar Ishrat were tried on five charges and all were awarded death sentences.
