RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Thursday said that terrorism is a menace that requires collective response.
He made these remarks during a visit to the training centre of the army’s elite commando unit, Special Services Group (SSG) at Terbela.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR)’s statement, COAS General Bajwa said that Pakistan Army has vast experience of counter terrorism operations as well as modern training facilities and is happy to play a part in enabling counter terrorism response of multiple friendly countries.
The COAS witnessed completion of eight-week counter terrorism training of Nigerian Special Forces Battalion by Pak Army SSG team.
He appreciated the standard of training imparted and the results attained by the trainee contingent. The Nigerian contingent comprises 440 trainees, including 26 officers.
IG General Training and Evaluation (IGT&E) Lt Gen Hidayatur Rehman, Commander Rawalpindi Corps Lt Gen Nadeem Raza, General Officer Commanding (GOC) SSG and Acting Nigerian High Commissioner Salisu Murtala Isa were also present on the occasion.
