Advancing IT skills: ‘Computing battle’ held at PAF-Kiet for students

KARACHI: A two-day IT event, titled ComBat’18 (The Computing Battle) was held at Pakistan Air Force Karachi Institute of Economics and Technology (PAF-Kiet).

The event, held at the varsity’s North Nazimabad campus, featured 22 competitions related to software engineering, computer networks, databases, web and mobile applications, graphic designing, and electronics.

The objective of the event was to bring out the abilities of the students and to foster their expertise in the field of IT and related disciplines.

More than 1,000 students from all major universities, including Institute of Business Administration, University of Karachi, Bahria University, Muhammad Ali Jinnah University, DHA Suffa University and Mehran University, participated in the event.

The three-day event proved to be a perfect combination of education, entertainment and opportunities for students belonging to various varsities of town. Packed with guest speaking sessions, ranging from motivational speaking to ethical hacking, the event attracted a large number of visitors.

Owais Rabbani, the President of Youth Parliament and Director General of Reborn Training & Services, was the Chief Guest of Combat’18 and the event was attended by hundreds of students belonging to different universities of Karachi.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Rabbani lauded the efforts of students for organizing this event and making it a success. He asserted events like this help bright students to mold their ideas in to reality by getting in touch with industry professionals.

Talking to media personnel, lead organizers of the event, Mr. Shah Muhammad Emad  (Assistant Professor) and Mr. Sohail Imran (Assistant Professor), highlighted the importance of holding IT related events in university.

“PAF-KIET has been successfully holding this “Computing Battle” since nine years and students are acquiring a great deal of technical training and professional development through it”, they added.

The event Combat’18 brought some new version of competitions to test logical, interactive, innovative, creative and mathematical skills of the students.

Besides, there were some gaming competitions as well namely, Spell Bee, Math Champ, Circuit Design, Clash Royale.
