‘Constitutional’ change a right of people of Sindh: Fawad

KARACHI: Ruling out the rumours of a governor rule in Sindh, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry has said that ‘change’ would prevail in the province, albeit constitutionally, ARY News reported on Wednesday.

Talking to media men in the metropolis here today, the minister said that like people of the rest of Pakistan, people of Sindh also had a right to bring [political] change under the umbrella of the constitution.

“It is well within the constitutional rights of people of Sindh to run their matters and bring political change constitutionally”, he said.

“Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has no future in Karachi; we, through our coalition partners [in Sindh], will bring a change [of government] in the province”, he said.

Responding to a question about a possible ‘Karachi Package’ in the upcoming supplementary budget, the minister said that practical steps would be taken to solve Karachi’s problems.

“I met the MQM-P leaders yesterday and submitted the report to the prime minister. And today, PM Khan also met with the MQM-P leaders and everything will be settled as per the PTI-MQM alliance agenda”, he said.

In response to a question about Prime Minister Imran Khan’s visit to Sindh and a possible announcement of ‘Thar Package’, the information minister said that it wasn’t finalised yet.

“It’s not finalised yet whether he will visit soon or sometime later. But be it Thar or Karachi, these are all parts of Pakistan, and we will ensure that the funds are spent on public welfare”, he said.

He said that the time had gone when funds of Karachi would “magically be transferred to Dubai and London”, adding that now, the funds of Sindh will be spent on Sindh.
