Court extends remand of Ayyan Ali till Apr 24

Ayyan Ali, who was arrested from Islamabad airport under money laundering charges was produced before the court today. Unlike her last appearance in the court, she wasn’t wearing a veil.

During the hearing the investigation officer pleaded to the court to grant more time for investigation till the compilation of final challan.

The judge granted remand asking custom officials to present challan in the next hearing and adjourned the case proceeding.

Ayyan Ali – a renowned Pakistani model has worked for brands such as Ufone and Sunsilk – was arrested at Benazir International Airport by Airport Security Force officials for carrying $506,800 on March 14, 2015. She was arrested when about to board a Dubai bound flight.

The model was sent on a 14 day judicial remand to Adiala jail in Rawalpindi by a Customs judge. Following a hearing on March 28, Ayyan’s father was shot in the arm by an unidentified person outside a Rawalpindi court.

Ayyan’s father Raja Hafeez later disclosed that he had nominated former Interior Minister Rehman Malik’s brother Khalid Malik for being involved in the shooting.
