Shafqat Hussain will be executed at 4:30 am on June 9.

Anti-terrorism court III in Karachi issued death warrant for the condemned prisoner after a letter of Superintendent Central Jail Karachi, saying that the stay period of Shafqat Hussain’s execution was over, and therefore a black warrant be issued for the hanging of the death row prisoner.

ATC judge issued a death warrant for the prisoner with order to hang him till death on June 9 at 4:30 am and submit a compliance report after the execution.

Shafqat Hussain was arrested and handed death sentence in 2004 for the kidnapping and murder of a seven-year-old child in Karachi.

President had rejected the mercy plea of Shafqat Hussain after courts had turned down his appeals.

His execution orders put off twice earlier. About two month ago, before Shafqat was scheduled to be executed, he was granted a last-minute reprieve and Interior Minister had ordered an inquiry into the matter, which was tasked with establishing the veracity of the lawyers’ contention that Shafqat was a minor at the time of sentencing.
