Court summons Imran Khan in defamation hearing

Former CJP Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has sued PTI Chairman Imran Khan for defamation over his allegations regarding 2013 general elections.

PTI Chairman Khan had alleged that former chief justice was involved in the rigging in the last general elections in which Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) emerged as the ruling party.

The former apex judge, in the petition filed at a Sessions Court, stated that the cricketer-turned-politician leveled baseless allegations against him.

He has said that Khan should either ask for pardon or pay Rs. 20 billion as damages as the Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman has not been able to prove his claims as of yet.

The court has summoned Imran Khan to appear in the hearing on 29th January.
