New CPNE members to work for responsible journalism, President, PM hope

President Dr Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Imran Khan hope that the new the newly elected office bearers of Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE) will work for the development of responsible journalism. 

Congratulating the new members on their successful election, both the heads of the state expressed the hope that they will put efforts to promote responsible journalism, freedom of expression, and dissemination of information to the general public.

In a statement, the president anticipated that Government-Media relations will improve further during the tenure of the newly elected leadership of CPNE.

Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan has extended well wishes to the new leadership of editors.

Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan, in a statement, also congratulated the CPNE members and said the government believes in independence of media and will extend every possible assistance to ensure freedom of expression in the country.
