CTD foils terror bid in Okara, two terrorists arrested

OKARA: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) on Monday foiled a major terrorism bid in Punjab’s Okara district and arrested two terrorists of the banned outfit, ARY News reported.

According to CTD sources, the counter-terrorism department carried out Intelligence Based Operation (CTD) in Okara and arrested two terrorists who were planning a terrorist act.

The arrested terrorists were identified as Rafiq and Naeem said CTD sources and added that both terrorists were residents of Dera Ismail Khan (DI Khan).

“Firearms and ammunition were recovered from the terrorists’ compound,” said the CTD spokesperson.

The explosives were stored for sabotage activities in the peaceful district.

In a separate raid today, three suspected terrorists were killed in a joint operation conducted by Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and police personnel in Peshawar on Monday.

The operation was conducted within the jurisdiction of Faqirabad police station.

The police relayed that terrorists, on seeing the personnel, opened indiscriminate fire on them and in the ensuing shootout, three militants were killed.

One of the terrorists was identified as Suleman, who hailed from Bajaur while the identity of the rest is yet to be ascertained. Arms and ammunition were seized from their possession.
