CTD foils terror plot, kills two terrorists in Lahore

LAHORE: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) claimed to have killed two suspected terrorists in a shootout near Sagian Bridge area in Lahore in the early hours of Monday, ARY News reported.

The CTD personnel killed two terrorists associated with a proscribed organization, in a shootout and recovered explosive material and weapons, including detonators, Kalashnikovs rifles, and pistols, from their possession, a CTD spokesman said. However, two other suspects managed to flee from the scene. The efforts were being made to trace and nab them, he added.

He said the killed militants were plotting to carry out a big terror act in Lahore.

Earlier on April 20, 2017 the CTD had busted a cell of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in Shiekhupura, killing eight terrorists in a shootout. Whereas, three to four suspected militants had managed to escape in darkness.

The Counter Terrorism Department had also foiled another terror plot in the provincial capital and killed ten militants on April 8, this year.
