December 2: International Day for Abolition of Slavery


The International Day for Abolition of Slavery is being observed on December 2 all around the globe, it is a yearly event organized by United Nations.

The motive behind observing the day is to give awareness about the prevention of human trafficking and the exploitation of human being.

First time the Day was celebrated in the year 1986.

The focus of this day is on eradicating contemporary forms of slavery, such as trafficking in persons, sexual exploitation, and the worst forms of child labor, forced marriage, and the forced recruitment of children for use in armed conflict.

Around 21 million women, men and children are fenced in with slavery all over the planet, UN data revealed.
