Demolition of Nazimabad bridge commences in Karachi

KARACHI: The demolition process of five-decade old Nazimabad Bridge in Karachi commenced on Sunday to make space for Green Line metro bus projects, ARY News reported.

According to details, the demolition process of the bridge will take place in two phases. In the first phase, the part from Matric board office till Abbasi Shaheed Hospital will be brought down, whereas the part from Matric board office till Nazimabad will be demolished in the second round.

It should be noted that the people going towards Nazimabad, North Nazimabad, North Karachi, New Karachi and Surjani Town will face severe problems due to the demolition of the bridge.

The the process of demolishing old bridge is expected to be competed within one month. It should be noted that the bridge was constructed in 1996.

The citizens are expected to face severe problems in reaching their destinations due to the development work being carried out in the area, and have asked the administration to announce alternative routes before starting their work.

The traffic police has decided to deploy officials in three different shifts to handle the situation and the smooth flow of traffic. Police has also been deployed on the bridge.
