DG Rangers demands custody of Tariq Siyal, Asad Kharal

According to sources, D.G. Rangers Major General Bilal Akbar, in a high level meeting on law and order with Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah in chair, expressed his reservations about Sindh Home Minister Sohail Anwar Siyal.

The D.G. Rangers also demanded handing over of the minister’s brother Tariq Siyal and his close aide Asad Kharal to the paramilitary force for questioning, sources said.

The meeting on the recent incident in Larkana was also attended by the home minister Anwar Siyal, senior provincial minister Murad Ali Shah, I.G. Sindh A.D. Khawaja and DIG Larkana.

According to sources, D.G. Rangers demanded handing over of Asad Kharal and Tariq Siyal to the paramilitary force. He also said that a gulf being created between the institutions adding that the ministries and departments could not be run in this manner.

The authorities have decided to inquire into the escape of corruption accused Asad Kharal. The probe will also investigate about the role of DPO Larkana and other police officers.

The Rangers have also initiated an inquiry into the escape of Asad Kharal, sources added.

Police in Larkana had arrested plain-clothed officials from the Rangers and National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on charges of kidnapping a municipal clerk Asad Kharal who had been detained for questioning.

The officials wanted to question Kharal about his alleged role in two corruption cases worth Rs 500 million, in addition to being links with criminals, sources said. However, the incident resulted in escape of the corruption accused.

Rangers raid

Rangers on Friday raided the home of Sindh Home Minister Sohail Anwar Siyal in Larkana, in connection with the arrest of a suspect wanted by the paramilitary force. They were on the lookout for a suspect Asad Kharal.

It has been alleged that Asad Kharal has close links with the brother of Sohail Anwar Siyal. The Rangers had also detained 10 people including former naib nazim Abid Bughio.

The Rangers recently said that they have launched a comprehensive operation against criminals and militants in interior of Sindh. DG Rangers Major General Bilal Akbar had said that the operation has been launched under the National Action Plan.
