KARACHI: One among two accused persons has been arrested by the Karachi police personnel from a private hospital in DHA Phase 6 firing case, ARY News reported on Sunday.
Earlier, two persons boarded on a double-cabin vehicle opened fire on law enforcers in Defence’s Phase 6 area of Karachi, killing a police personnel and a pedestrian on Saturday night.
Taking rapid action against the culprits, a team of Karachi Police South Zone conducted a raid at a private hospital where they arrested accused person Nazir.
Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) South Pir Muhammad said that the accused was drunk and addict of alcohol and ice.
The officer detailed that the accused, Nazir, was identified by an eyewitness and another person who got wounded at the time of the incident.
Nazir has a criminal background, who is also accused in a murder case on personal enmity in 2018, he added.
He said that the persons had opened fire on everyone came into their way and also targeted a police official while they also stopped a car.

The official added that security guards deployed at a nearby consulate had also tried to stop the accused.
Pir Muhammad said that police has started forensic examination of the vehicle used by the culprits in the incident, whereas, wine bottles and narcotics were also recovered from the double-cabin.
Superintendent Police (SP) Investigation said that two people were present in the double-cabin vehicle who opened fire, killing a police official and a passerby while one left wounded.
He said that the department has commenced an investigation against the accused person arrested from a private hospital. He added that a case will be registered against the culprits under the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA). The officer said that the police were carrying on efforts to acquire CCTV footage of the incident.
Earlier on Saturday night, Two people, a policeman among them, were killed in the incident took place in DHA Phase VI’s Khayaban-e-Bukhari.
The killed cop was identified as Khalid, a police constable who was posted in Darakhsha police station. He was returning home after performing his duty when he came under the attack. Another deceased was identified as Ramzan.
