KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday expressed satisfaction over the reply submitted by federal government about disabled persons’ column in population census form, ARY News reported.
Deputy Attorney General, who appeared in the hearing today on behalf of the federal government, informed the bench that the issue has been resolved under the orders of Lahore High Court (LHC) and the Supreme Court (SC).
The court expressed satisfaction and adjourned the hearing in absence of the petitioner.
Earlier, the court had ordered inclusion of the column about ‘handicapped’ people in the Census data collection form.
The bench comprises of Justice Muneeb Akhtar had ordered inclusion of the column during hearing a petition.
Separately, Pakistan Sikh Council and Sindh Government have written letters to Chief Census Commissioner seeking inclusion of the column of Sikhism in the census form.
