Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim, who served as the 26th chief minister of Sindh province, was born on September 15, 1957.
He received his early education in his village in Tehsil Diplo, District Tharparkar and then, he joined Cadet College Petaro. After passing out from the college, he went to Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences at Jamshoro to study medicine, but later transferred to Jinnah Sindh Medical University, Karachi, where he completed his five-year MBBS.
He first contested the local government election and was elected as Nazim of Mirpur Khas district in 1983.
He was elected in 2002 to the provincial assembly on the ticket of the PML-Q from PS-60 constituency in Tharparkar.
He was hit in the head with a shoe by PPP supporter in 2008. He rarely goes to the provincial assembly, because he accuses the ruling part of trying to disgrace him in the assembly.

He went to live in UAE for in self-imposed exile for after PML-Q defeat in the 2008 polls. On December 2011, Arbab Ghulam Rahim was appointed president of the PML-Likeminded. He returned to Pakistan on May 13, 2013.
