PAT chief gets warm welcome at residence

TOP NEWS

LAHORE: Chief of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Dr. Tahirul Qadri received warm welcome on his arrival to residence in Lahore, ARY News reported Monday.

Dr. Qadri was greeted with cheers and sloganeering in his support at Mihajul Quran Secretariat, where he reached after inquiring the health of wounded party workers at Jinnah Hospital.

Over 10 PAT activists were killed in brutal clash with police on June 17 when the latter attempted to remove barricades outside the Minhaj secretariat in Model Town. Some hooligans including infamous Gullu Butt were backed by Lahore police to wreak havoc on public property and assault PAT workers during the clash.

Scores of PAT workers cheered the arrival Dr. Qadri at his residence from party secretariat amid shouting slogans in his favour. They showered petals on vehicle of Dr. Qadri when he made it to his place.

The PAT chief remained at the airport for over nine hours today since morning when his flight was diverted to Lahore from Islamabad due to ‘security concerns’. Dr. Qadri had refused to disembark from the flight, arguing that he was unlawfully taken to Lahore. Later, he softened his stance and agreed to negotiate with Punjab Governor Chaudhary Sarwar on the issue.
