ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Monday adjourned two petitions seeking disqualification of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and Jehangir Tareen indefinitely, ARY News reported.
A bench headed by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Justice (retd) Sardar Raza was hearing the petitions filed by Talal Chaudhry and Muhammad Khan Daha of PML-N which sought the disqualification of the two PTI leaders for allegedly false financial statements and loan write-offs.
The CEC said that the Supreme Court was also hearing petition of similar nature and asked about the status of the case in the apex court.
The petitioners’ counsel informed the commission that the apex court has been hearing the petition.
The commission after hearing both sides, adjourned the disqualification petitions indefinitely.
