ECP denotifies Khalid Khursheed as Gilgit-Baltistan CM

GILGIT: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has denotified Khalid Khursheed as Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan, ARY News reported.

As per details, Chief Election Commissioner Gilgit-Baltistan denotified Khalid Khursheed and the de-notify notification was issued by the ECP office.

Earlier today, the Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Court disqualified Chief Minister Khalid Khursheed Khan in a fake degree case.

A three-member bench announced the verdict on a petition filed by a member of the GB Assembly Shahzad Agha against the chief minister.

The petitioner had argued that Khursheed’s law degree was fake and he should be disqualified under Articles 62 and 63. Khursheed claimed to have received a law degree from London but it could not be verified.

Khalid Khursheed had been in office since December 2020 and had been a close aide of PTI chairman Imran Khan.

Separately today, the opposition lawmakers on Tuesday submitted a no-confidence motion against Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid.

The no-confidence motion was filed by nine opposition members, signaling their discontent with the current leadership.
