ISLAMABAD: The countdown to the 2018 general elections has begun as the nation is all set to elect a new government on Wednesday (tomorrow).

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) launched a number of awareness campaigns in the build-up to the elections to facilitate voters to exercise their right to franchise and keep the entire poll process smooth.

The Commission has released a video lately, demonstrating how a voter can walk into a polling station and cast his/her ballot.

In the video, a voter is seen approaching a presiding officer sitting inside a polling booth where he is asked for his original computerized national identity card (valid or expired).

Afterwards, the presiding officer looks for the voter’s details on the voters’ list.

Then, he proceeds to assistant presiding officer who issues him two ballot papers – white containing names and symbols of candidates up for a provincial assembly seat while green of those vying for a national assembly seat.

The voter, afterwards, goes behind voting screen to stamp candidates of his choice for both the national and provincial assembly seats from his constituency and then folds the papers and inserts into respective ballot boxes.
