IMU Education Khyber Pakhtunkhwa releases schools performance report

PESHAWAR: Independent Monitoring Unit (IMU) Education Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has released performance report of schools of the province, ARY News reported on Monday.

The IMU report revealed that schools across the province had witnessed overall improvement by 3 percent in one year from February 2018 to February 2019.

The report said electricity had been provided in 95 percent schools of Peshawar. While, 40 percent schools in Shangla and 36 percent in Battagram were deprived of electricity.

In Koshitan, at least 46 percent schools did not have boundary walls and 43 percent schools did not have washrooms, it added.

The report said 42 percent schools in Shangla, 40 percent in Battagram and 38 percent in Torghar lacked potable water facility.

Advisor to Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Education Zia Ullah Bangash said Rs10 billion had been allocated for provision of facilities at schools.

On February 26, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cabinet had approved KP Education Monitoring Authority Bill 2019 for giving authority status to Independent Monitoring Unit (IMU) of KP Elementary and Secondary Education Department.

IMU Project was established in 2014 to bring improvement in KP’s education standard and assess the performance/ attendance of schools and teaching community.
