Eight members of Jamaat-ul-Ahrar lay down arms in Mohmand Agency

RAWALPINDI: Eight members of Jamiat-ul-Ahrar terrorist group laid down arms in Mohmand Agency while dozen of suspects arrested under the countrywide ongoing ‘Radd-ul-Fasaad Operation’, ARY News reported on Wednesday.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), media wing of Pakistan Armed Forces, eight terrorists of Jamiat-ul-Ahrar laid down their weapons before Pakistan Army in Mohmand Agency. Eight people namely Akhbar, Siraj, Gul along with their five accomplices reportedly abandoned terrorism.

Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) arrested four suspected persons including a foreign national in Rawalpindi by recovering weapon from their possession.

In another raid, LEAs recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition in Islamabad by arresting two suspects. The weapons include five SMGs, 30 12 bore pistols, and one 8mm rifle.

Separately, Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in Bahadur Kalay area of Peshawar arrested an Afghan national, Noor-ul-Islam, and recovered three kilogrammes of explosives from his possession.

In another raid, CTD and Rangers in a joint-operation arrested two suspects from Pasrur in Sialkot district and recovered two hand-grenades, and pistols from their possession.

Moreover, during a combing operation in Lahore, Police and Rangers arrested 10 suspects from Yakki Gate area under the arms and tenancy acts.

In a separate incident, police gunned down two proclaimed offenders in an alleged encounter in Kasur.

LEAs arrested five robbers with the help of CCTV footage, who had allegedly killed a security guard in Buffer Zone area of Karachi. The case has been lodged against the accused.
