He was addressing a news conference where he said that Achakzai’s stance on the Afghan refugees was a conspiracy against the sanctity and security of the country. He said a case under Article 6 of the Constitution of Pakistan should be registered against him.
He said that Achakzai’s brother was the governor of Balochistan and several members of his family were part of the Parliament and other government organisations. Therefore, he should be more careful and express restraint over making such comments.
He said that Achakzai’s party had even refused to condemn the attack on the Quaid-e-Azam Residency in Ziarat, and even conspired against the military after the Pathankot incident which has been denied by India.
Elahi said that the Pakistan army played a vital role after the invasion of Aghanistan by the Soviet Union in 1979. Pakistan gave asylum to more than three million refugees but in return the country received the Kalashnikov culture, which had wrecked havoc and was responsible for terrorism in the country.
He said that the Afghan refugees had forgotten the favour by Pakistan for hosting them for more than three decades, and now Achakzai was lobbying for their rights in Pakistan which is unfortunate. He condemned the silence of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif over the arrest of Indian spy Kalboshan Yadav, Pathankot incident and now the controversial comments of Achakzai.
Furthermore, he said that the Durand Line was recognized between Pakistan and Afghanistan which was accepted by the United Nation, and there was even a ruling by the Supreme Court of Pakistan. Therefore, this has put the loyalty of Achakzai towards the state and the oath undertaken while becoming a member of Parliament into question and so a treason case should be launched against him.
Mahmood Khan Achakzai, the leader of the Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) has been mired in controversy after saying that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa belongs to Afghans and they can live there any fear of harassment and without refugee cards.
The Pashtun nationalist from Balochistan also termed the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as ‘Afghan territory’. He said since said that his comments which were given to an Afghan newspaper have been misrepresented and taken out of context.
His comments have also been condemned by KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak who said that the province was an integral part of Pakistan.
