Emergency imposed in provincial secretariat after Thar deaths

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has imposed emergency in provincial secretariat following severe drought and several subsequent deaths in Tharparkar, ARY News reported on Friday.

According to Sindh Chief Secretary Sajjad Saleem Hotiana, the offices at provincial secretariat will remain open on Saturday and Sunday in view of the emergency, while leaves of employees have also been suspended.

He said provincial ministers will supervise the relief activities in drought-hit Tharparkar district. Central control room has also been established at the office of chief secretary to monitor relief activities.
