MELBOURNE: Pakistan’s tennis star Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi along with his partner Julia Goerges of Germany faced a defeat in the quarter finals of Australian Open mixed doubles event against India’s Sania Mirza and Romania’s Horia Tecau, ARY News reported.
The duo of sixth seed Sania -Tecau overwhelmed the unseeded Aisam-Julia with the two straight set win of 6-3, 6-4 in the battle of 63 minutes.
The Indo-Romanian duo will play Australian pair of Jarmila Gajdosova and Matthew Ebden in the semi-finals.
Earlier in the men’s double event Aisam had the third round exit but he had continued his campaign at the grand slam in the mixed doubles competition until now.
