Officials said apart from other criminals, members of banned organizations also purchased mobile SIMs from the suspects, while the ones on whose names these cellular connections were registered remained completely unaware of it.
The SIM cards (biometrically verified) were sold out for Rs 1000-5000.
Police also seized a biometric verification machine and more than 200 SIMs from the gang members, who used to operate near railway station and city’s main bus stand.
The suspects provided mobile connections to different people in Mardan, Peshawar, southern Punjab and Sargodha.
Officials further said that various kidnappers and car-lifters also used same SIM cards to demand ransom.
