148 primary, 13 middle schools still closed in KP, says an MPA

PESHAWAR: 'Despite of an educational emergency imposed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), 148 primary and 11 middle schools are still closed, which also include 13 schools in the provincial capital' said an MPA Mufti Syed Janaan from Hangu – ARY News reports.

During the session of KP Assembly on Thursday, presided by the Speaker Asad Qaiser, MPA Mufti Syed Janaan inquired about measures taken for restoring education in the province, as 148 primary and 11 middle schools are still closed.

At this, officials of the Education Ministry responded that 95 primary schools for girls and 8 middle schools are closed due to non-availability of female teachers, whereas 12 primary and a middle school in Peshawar have been shut in the wake of terrorism.

The Speaker, after the rejection of stats by the members of the KP Assembly, handed over the issue to the standing committee.
